Prime Day is June 23 to 26, and Lifehacker is sharing the best sales based on product reviews, comparisons, and price-tracking tools before it’s over.
Reality is overrated; virtual reality, though, is severely underrated. Whether you are a pro looking to upgrade your VR setup or you’re making your first steps into the virtual world, take advantage of Prime Day’s virtual reality gear. I’ve rounded up the most notable Prime Day price drops on everything VR, from entry-level units to precision tracking gear for VR pros.
The Quest 3S is Meta’s more budget-conscious standalone VR headset, and it’s currently on sale for less than $300. The graphics aren’t quite as sharp as the Quest 3’s, but the 3S shares the same processing chipset as its older brother, so both systems can run the same software. The currently on-sale bundle comes with popular game Gorilla Tag and a three-month trial subscription to Meta Horizon+.
Pimax high-end virtual reality headset is 15% off
The Pimax Crystal Super VR Headset is not an entry-level virtual reality headset. It’s designed for simulations, whether racing or flying, and gives virtual pilots and drivers an immense 3840×3840 native resolution matrix for each eye panel to make simulations as real as possible. It’s not cheap at $1,529.15, and it requires a powerful computer to work with it, but if you want to take VR seriously, this is the way to do it.
This must-have cable for Quest headsets is 32% off
If you’re going to get a single add-on for a Quest headset, I’d recommend a long USB-C cable like this 16ft Syntech Link Cable. It can connect your VR devices to a gaming PC and also a charging brick, and the long length means gives you freedom of movement. Plus it works with any other USB-C device.
What do you think so far?
If you decide to pick up a Quest 3S or Quest 3, you’ll probably find the battery doesn’t last long enough and the device becomes uncomfortable quickly. BOBOVR’s S3 Pro Battery Strap solves both problems. It mounts a heavy-duty 10,000mAh battery pack directly to the rear cradle to extend hardware life by roughly two to four hours and its weight takes the forward pressure off, making your headset more balanced and comfortable. The BOBOVR S3 Pro Battery Strap also features cooling fans to limit fog.
Various virtual reality controller add-ons are on sale
It’s a little silly, but controller add-ons really do make VR gaming a little more immersive by providing weight to your controller. Here are some add-ons to enhance specific kinds of VR games.
-
Long Arms Controller Extensions: These extensions can be used in three different ways: Double Stick Mode for games like Beat Saber or Gorilla Tag, Golf Club Mode for golf games, and Long Handle Mode, for things like kayaking. Versatile!
-
AMVR Weighted VR Gun Stock Attachment: Shooters are much better with the weight and feeling of a firearm. These pistol grips will increase the immersion of virtual FPS and make aiming more intuitive.
-
YOGES VR Golf Club: If you’re into golf games, this add-on provides a golf club grip and much more realistic weight for your putting.
-
Music conducting baton: It’s not even a VR accessory, but my favorite game for VR is Maestro, where you conduct an orchestra, and it really is better if you’re holding a baton while you play it.
