The Apple Watch Series 12 Is on Sale for October Prime Day

You don’t expect to see Apple’s latest and greatest products on sale, especially not weeks after their initial release. While there are plenty of discounts on Apple products this October Prime Day, including on some Apple Watches, I certainly wouldn’t have predicted that Apple’s latest flagship would get a price cut. And yet, here we are. The Apple Watch Series 12 starts at $399. But during October Prime Day, Apple has the watch $50 off. With the discount, it now starts at $349, a fantastic price for a watch with all of Apple’s latest wearable perks.

The Apple Watch Series 12 comes with Apple’s newest wearable processor, the S11 chip. This processor is what powers things like Siri AI and Apple Intelligence, as well as the new “Audio Intelligence,” which can give you a text recap of the last 15 seconds of an in-person conversation—a feature that has generated a bit of controversy. It also comes with a new heart rate sensor, which can notably check your pulse every five seconds, or 20 times a minute. This model supports up to 24 hours of battery life on a single charge, and its Ceramic Shield 2 display should prevent more scratches and cracks than past Apple Watches in this category. Lifehacker senior health editor Beth Skwarecki thinks the Series 12 is worth the upgrade at its original MSRP, so this is a bit of a no-brainer if you were already interested.

The only caveat here is that the Series 12 isn’t the only Apple Watch discount worth considering this October Prime Day. While the Apple Watch Ultra 4 isn’t on sale, the Apple Watch SE 3 is. This isn’t a “new” watch, per se, but it is Apple’s best watch for most people. You don’t get any of the above perks of the Series 12, but you do get the capable S10 chip, Apple’s standard heart rate monitor, sleep and exercise tracking, and the ability to send and receive texts. There’s a host of fitness and health crossover here, and, if you opt for the cellular model, you’ll connect to the same 5G network as the cellular Series 12. While $349 is a great starting price for the Series 12, the SE 3 currently starts at $199 for October Prime Day. That’s a tough price to beat.
