The sneaker’s original full name is the Club Champion, according to GQ, and it launched in 1985 as an off-duty shoe for tennis players. Like many of Reebok’s now-iconic 1980s designs, it quickly became popular off the court – Mick Jagger wore these or a very similar pair in the music video for his “Dancing In The Streets” duet with David Bowie – and the shoe’s cool factor persists to this day.
