Prince Harry has made a final decision about whether to bring his wife Meghan and their children to visit the UK capital.
The Duchess of Sussex, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will not join him when he travels to London next week. It comes after a request for police protection was denied.
Harry reportedly then decided it would not be safe to bring his family to London for that element of the visit. It also remains unclear whether Harry will accept an invitation to stay at a royal residence.
The decision has thrown out any plans of an immediate reunion between Archie and Lilibet with their grandfather, King Charles. While the family will not join Harry in London, the family remains open to visiting the UK.
Meghan was due to visit Birmingham on Friday where she was set to join Harry at an Invictus Games engagement. The visit had been carefully organised well in advance but had been thrown into doubt after it emerged the couple would not receive taxpayer-funded protection. The remains the possibility Meghan will join Harry, however.
The Duke and Duchess are no longer working members of the Royal family and carry out their own planned engagements. While Harry’s engagement appear clear, his family’s plans are not.
This most recent visit was slated to be a normal one for the family and would have ended numerous solo trips Harry has made to the UK in recent years. His wife, Meghan, has not made a return to the UK since 2022.
Harry had planned to have stayed at a Royal residence, but the decision not to have security led to last-minute jitters with the plan, reports The Telegraph. One source claimed he was promised safe passage in and out of the residence.
The Duke is likely to return to the UK in September where he will attend the annual WellChild Award ceremony. But his children will be back at school and it is unclear whether the King will have time to see his son.
