BREAKING: Queen Margrethe admitted to hospital

The Danish Royal
Court announced on Sunday evening that Queen Margrethe has been
admitted to the Rigshospitalet.

In a press release, Nina
Munch-Perrin, the Head of Communications for the Danish Royal
Court, said that Queen Margrethe has been diagnosed with a new
blood clot in her hip region and mild dehydration and that both
conditions are being treated.

“Queen Margrethe is in good spirits and, given the
circumstances, is doing well,”
the statement continued.

The royal will be hospitalised for a period this week while she
undergoes observation and treatment, which means that Queen
Margrethe will not be able to attend the funeral of King Harald on
Wednesday as previously announced.

Queen Margrethe was
hospitalised in May for a heart attack
,
and again later that month
after a CT scan revealed a large
blood clot in the hip region after a fall. On both occasions, Queen
Margrethe was discharged after a few days.

The Danish Royal Court will provide updates when there is
news.
