Braiden Ward Throws Bat at Tate Kuehner After Getting Hit in Head, Benches Clear in Viral MiLB Video

Boston Red Sox minor league outfielder Braiden Ward took exception to being hit in the head by a pitch in the second inning during a Triple-A game between Worcester Red Sox and Nashville Sounds on Friday night.

After Sounds pitcher Tate Kuehner threw a 97 mph sinker that hit Ward in the helmet, Ward responded by throwing his bat at the mound and both benches immediately emptied.

The umpires, coaches and players for both teams were able to calm the situation down before things escalated.

Ward was ejected from the game for his actions, while Kuehner was allowed to continue pitching. He tossed five innings, allowing one run and striking out five.

Nashville went on to a 4-2 win over Worcester. The two teams will play again on Saturday and Sunday.
