Angela Kelly, dresser to Elizabeth II, could see her story on the screen

Buckingham Palace is on alert after an unexpected plan by
broadcasters made the possibility of events that took place behind
palace walls making it to the screen.

Angela Kelly, one of the closest confidantes of Elizabeth II in
her later years, is having her story filmed and producers have
found a way to get round a potential confidentiality issue.

Her account of life behind palace doors is being made into a
drama rather than a documentary and that means a lot more freedom
for film makers.

A documentary, which could have included interviews with Angela
Kelly, could have breached confidentiality rules as it would be
presented as a factual account of the many years that the former
dresser shared with Elizabeth II.

As a fictional telling, there is much more wriggle room as it
will be billed as ”based on true events” but the line between what
is real and what has been created for dramatic effect will be
blrred.

The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden reports that the film will be
called ”Trouble” and is set to be created b a BAFTA winner, Jeremy
Brock. His agent, Chralotte Knight, confirmed to Richard Eden that
he has been commissioned to ”write and original screenplay for
Fox-Searchlight about the friendship between Elizabeth II and
Angela Kelly”.

Angela Kelly was Elizabeth II’s dresser for many years and the
two shared a strong bond. Ms Kelly created many of Elizabeth II’s
outfits in her later years and ws so close to the Monarch that she
wore her shoes in for her.

During the life and reign of Elizabeth II she enjoyed a grace
and favour home and travelled the world with her boss. Since
Elizabeth II’s death, she has ceased to be a royal employee.

The story of her time with the late Queen covers some of the
most controversial moments in the life of the longest reigning
Monarch in British history. Angela Kelly was an eyewitness to the
turbulence of the last years including the controversy around
Elizabeth II’s second son, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and the
consequences of the departure of Harry and Meghan from the Royal
Family.

Buckingham Palace hasn’t commented on the film.
