The United States’ win over the Dominican Republic in Sunday’s World Baseball Classic semifinal delivered historic viewership numbers.
Per FOX Sports, the game drew 7.369 million viewers across FS1 and FOX Deportes, setting a new record for the most-watched World Baseball Classic game.
Considering all the MLB talent across the Team USA and the Dominican Republic rosters, it’s not that much of a surprise to see so many viewers tune in. The game also proved to be a nail-biter that came down to the final pitch as the United States won 2-1.
Team USA will now face Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic final on Tuesday in what should be an exciting matchup. The Venezuelan squad knocked off Italy, which previously beat the United States in pool play, in Monday’s semifinal matchup.
A win on Tuesday would mark the United States’ first WBC title since 2017, while it would be the first ever for Venezuela.
