The first elimination game of the League Division Series is set for Tuesday night as the Brewers go for the sweep of the Padres after two wild NLDS games. The Dodgers, meanwhile, took a 2-1 series lead over the Braves as Yoshinobu Yamamoto outdueled Chris Sale.
Over in the ALDS, the Rays have come out scorching to take a 2-0 series lead over the Yankees, who were nearly no-hit in Game 1 and then watched Game 2 fall apart thanks to a series of defensive miscues. The White Sox similarly hold a 2-0 lead over the Guardians after scraping out another win on Monday thanks to good pitching and just enough offense.
The 12-team playoff field is down to eight as the Astros, Red Sox, Cubs and Phillies were knocked out in the best-of-three Wild Card Series last week.
