Princess Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank have welcomed their third child together, a daughter, who is a little sister for their sons August and Ernest
Princess Eugenie has given birth to her third child – a girl – and said she and husband Jack Brooksbank are “beyond in love”.
The youngest daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, who already has two children with her husband, shared the happy news with a picture of the newborn and a post on Instagram. It read: “Jack and I are so excited to announce Baby Girl Brooksbank!! We are beyond in love with our girlie” followed by five heart emojis.
A statement from Buckingham Palace also announced the birth, saying Eugenie’s uncle the King was ‘delighted’. It said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday, 3rd August 2026, at 6.20pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal.
“The baby was born weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces. Their Majesties the King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family were delighted to be informed of the news.”
Eugenie and Jack split their time between the UK and Portugal, with Jack’s job based out there. It is understood they are deeply grateful to the hospital staff for their care and are taking time to decide on a name for their daughter while spending time with sons, August and Ernest.
The new baby, who is not an HRH and will not receive a royal title, is born 15th in line to the throne, with their great uncle Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, now moving down to 16th place. The infant is also the 15th great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II, and the third to be born since her death in 2022.
The new arrival is also the fifth grandchild of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor and his former wife Fergie, the former Duke and Duchess of York, after the birth of their older daughter Princess Beatrice’s second daughter Athena Mapelli Mozzi in January last year.
Eugenie revealed her third pregnancy back in early May when an official announcement came from Buckingham Palace, which added that the King was ‘delighted’ at the news. At the time, the princess and the Palace shared a sweet snap of her two sons looking down at a print of an ultrasound.
The princess posted on her Instagram page: “Baby Brooksbank due 2026!” followed by a series of red heart emojis and one of a baby. While in a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer.
“August (aged five) and Ernest (aged two) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family. His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news.”
Before welcoming their children, Eugenie and husband Jack tied the knot back in 2018 in a grand wedding at Windsor Castle – just months after the nuptials of her cousin Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Guests at the wedding included the late Queen, the Prince and Princess of Wales and celebrities including Robbie Williams and Ellie Goulding.
Jack was educated at Stowe private school in Buckinghamshire and went straight into a career in hospitality. He worked at London nightspots Mahiki and Peyote, before landing a job at Chelsea’s Tonteria with the help of Guy Pelly – businessman and close personal friend of Princes William and Harry. He’s also been the European brand director of Casamigos Tequila, which is owned by Hollywood actor George Clooney.
The baby’s birth comes just weeks after Eugenie and her sister Beatrice were seemingly brought in from the cold to join the Royal Family at the wedding of their cousin Peter Phillips – following revelations about their parents.
They had previously stayed away from the traditional royal gathering on Easter Sunday, with the agreement of Charles, amid the furore over their father, who was arrested in February. They also did not attend Royal Ascot this year, at which they are usually regulars, or other summer events such as Wimbledon.
They also came under more scrutiny when it emerged that neither of them personally pay rent for their London homes with royal palaces.
The National Audit Office published a report into the royal family’s residential property arrangements after controversy surrounding the disgraced former prince Andrew’s lease of the Crown Estate home.
Other findings by the public spending watchdog include the revelation that the King foots the bill for Beatrice and Eugenie’s accommodation in royal palaces despite both Andrew’s daughters being non-working royals.
