After leading Argentina to a 3-0 win over Algeria in the FIFA World Cup on Tuesday, Lionel Messi now has the advantage over a former NFL star.
Messi now has a 2-0 record when playing at Arrowhead Stadium, which is home to the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs. That gives him more wins at the venue than former Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr had in his entire career.
Messi had a hat trick and tied Miroslav Klose’s record of 16 World Cup goals in Tuesday’s win.
Carr retired from the NFL last year, so he won’t get the chance to surpass Messi’s win total at Arrowhead Stadium anytime soon.
Messi and Argentina will be back in action on Monday in a group stage match against Austria.
