King Charles smiles as he looks at the Seven Sistiers

King Charles channels Prince Pbhilip with cheeky comment

King Charles took a stroll along a coastal trek named in his
honour and didn’t hold back in sharing his opinion on some of those
also enjoying the views.

As HM walked the brand new King Charles III England Coast Path,
he met some cyclists out for their own spot of exercise. When The
King asked them if they had the latest bikes, they replied they
were actually on electric cycles. King Charles had a one word
answer. Cheating.

It was said with a wry smile and might well have brought back
memories of his father, Prince Philip, who was known for sharing an
unexpected view or two during his royal engagements.

The King seemed delighted to meet cyclists, other walkers and
holiday makers as he strolled one of the first parts of the new
path to be ready. His walk along the east Sussex coast brought him
to the spectacular view point of the Seven Sisters and he appeared
lost in thought as he stood and contemplated the vista on a
beautifully sunny spring day.

The walk was part of the official launch of the King Charles III
England Coast Path which will eventually stretch for over 2,700
miles around England, and will be the longest continued and managed
coastal walk in the world.

His day out at the famous landmark also saw him open the Seven
Sisters National Nature Reserve which is one of 25 such spaces
being opened to mark his Coronation which took place on May 6
2023.

The visit came soon after King Charles had said a formal
farewell to the President of Nigeria. Bola TInubu said goodbye to
King Charles and Queen Camilla as the second day of his State Visit
got under way.

The day before, The King and Queen had hosted him at Windsor
Castle for a ceremonial welcome which began with a carriage
procession through Windsor and which ended with a spectacular State
Banquet in which Charles III praised the strength of the ties
between the two countries.

Charles III’s encounter with cyclists isn’t the first royal bike
event to raise a laugh this week. Earlier in the week, Prince
William joined BBC Radio 1 DJ, Greg James, on his epic cycle for
Comic Relief. As the heir to the throne jumped on the back of the
tandem that is being taken over 1,000 miles around England, Wales
and Scotland, the star presenter guiding the journey told some
passers by that his fellow cyclist was Prince William to which the
future king replied ”he’s hallucinating’.
