Royal expert’s damning verdict on King Charles’ move to cut off Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was Prince Andrew, has moved from his Royal Lodge mansion in Windsor, Berkshire, amid the release of new files relating to Jeffrey Epstein

King Charles’ decision to cut off Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the royal family has been vindicated, according to an expert.

Charles, 77, took drastic action late last year to strip Andrew of his royal titles and honours to protect the integrity of the monarchy amid the then duke’s links to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. More files relating to the vile financier have since been released, putting further pressure on Andrew to co-operate with officials in the US.

And journalist Jennie Bond, who was the BBC’s royal correspondent for 14 years, has blasted the latest release. The expert has praised the monarch for cutting ties with his brother, referencing damning emails which appear to lay bare Andrew’s true link with Epstein. Andrew, though, strongly denies any wrongdoing.

Ms Bond, whose time as royal correspondent with the BBC ended in 2003, said: “Although he [Andrew] denies any wrongdoing, these emails have completely vindicated the King in taking the draconian action he did, stripping Andrew of his titles and evicting him from his home.”

Messages exchanged between Mr Mountbatten-Windsor and Epstein, two years after the latter was convicted of indecent relations with minors, have emerged recently. Emails exchanged between Epstein and an account identified as ‘The Duke’ on August 11 and 12, 2010, showed that the disgraced financier was looking to introduce ‘A’ to a 26-year-old Russian woman. In response, ‘The Duke’ said he would be in Geneva “until the morning of the 22nd, but would be delighted to see her.”

Another set of emails, dated September 27, 2010, showed the then Prince inviting Epstein to Buckingham Palace. In it, he said: “I am just departing Scotland, should be down by 1800. I’ll ring you when I get down if you can give me a number to ring. Alternatively, we could have dinner at Buckingham Palace and have lots of privacy. A.” In the past, Andrew, 65, has denied being friends with Epstein and downplayed their relationship during this time period.

But Ms Bond, talking to GB News, said these emails hold weight and also referred to photos of Andrew on all fours leaning over a motionless woman lying beneath him. The reporter continued: “While he [Andrew] denies any wrongdoing, these emails appear to show some very ill-judged meetings with a convicted paedophile, which I don’t think he can defend. Then there’s that picture of him [where he appears to be] on all fours over someone. Obviously, we can’t say he was doing anything illegal, but it’s hardly appropriate.”

Andrew, who strongly denies any wrongdoing, was booted out of his Royal Lodge mansion in Windsor, Berkshire last night. The father of two is now currently living in a temporary property on the Sandringham Estate, it is understood. Renovation work continues at his permanent home Marsh Farm, which is in the small village of Wolferton, Norfolk.
