The Prince of Wales, will undertake his inaugural official visit
to Saudi Arabia next month, Kensington Palace has confirmed. The
three-day trip, from Monday 9th to Wednesday 11th February, comes
at the request of the UK Government as the two nations mark nearly
a century of diplomatic relations and expanding commercial
links.
A royal spokesman said the visit will focus on “growing trade,
energy and investment ties” between the United Kingdom and the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Details of meetings and events have yet to
be announced.
Although Prince William has previously visited neighbouring
countries including the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, this will
be his first official engagement in Saudi Arabia. The visit follows
high-level UK delegations to the Gulf in recent months: Prime
Minister Sir Keir Starmer met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin
Salman in Riyadh in December 2024, and Chancellor Rachel Reeves led
a UK trade delegation in October 2025 to advance discussions with
the Gulf Co-operation Council.
The announcement comes shortly after the Prince and Princess of
Wales carried out joint engagements in Scotland. The couple visited
the National Curling Academy in Stirling, meeting members of Team
GB and Paralympic GB ahead of the Winter Paralympic Games in
Milano-Cortina in February and March. Later, they toured Radical
Weavers, a charity supporting those affected by trauma through
traditional tartan-weaving, and concluded the day at The
Gothenburg, a community-run pub in the former mining village of
Fallon.
Kensington Palace confirmed that further details of Prince
William’s Saudi itinerary will be provided in due course.
