Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun have developed “genuine connection” as they continue to see each other, a source tells PEOPLE.
Four weeks after PEOPLE first reported that the pair are “casually” dating, a source says Sweeney, 28, and Braun, 44, “have a lot in common and neither one of them cares what others think.”
The actress’s friends and family are “really happy about this relationship,” the source continues, noting that “for them, it’s such a relief to see her genuinely happy.”

And “it’s not just Sydney’s side, either,” according to the source, who tells PEOPLE that the record executive’s “friends are also glad to see him with Sydney.”
“They say it’s been a long time since they’ve seen him this settled in a relationship, and they can tell how much he admires her,” the insider continues. “He thinks she’s smart, kind and fun, and she appreciates how he really sees her for who she is beyond all the noise.”
Braun was by Sweeney’s side as she paid a visit to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood with friends and family on Sunday, Sept. 28. The pair were seen holding hands, according to an onlooker, as they went around the Los Angeles theme park. Braun was also spotted at Sweeney’s 28th birthday celebration the night before, on Saturday, Sept. 27.
A source told PEOPLE on Sept. 2 that Sweeney and Braun were “casually hooking up,” noting that they were both guests at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez‘s June wedding in Italy.
“What really stood out to Sydney was at Jeff Bezos’ wedding,” the current source says. “Everyone else was trying to hit on her, but Scooter wasn’t. He wasn’t pursuing her the way others did, and that’s what caught her attention and made her feel like his intentions were real.”
“For both of them,” says that insider, the relationship “feels easy and natural, and the people closest to them on both sides are happy to see that.”

Braun was previously married to Yael Cohen from 2014 until they separated in 2021 and divorced in 2022. The former couple share three children: sons Jagger, 10, and Levi, 8, plus daughter Hart, 6.
Sweeney, meanwhile, broke off her engagement to businessman Jonathan Davino in March, after the pair spent some seven years together.
Following news of Braun and the Christy actress’s romance, other sources told PEOPLE that the pair spent Labor Day weekend together at Lake Tahoe, and that they had “something going on already” when they attended Bezos and Sanchez’s wedding in June.
“They hung out in Italy for the Bezos wedding,” one insider said at the time. “Syd was intrigued — Scooter’s a charmer. He’s confident, but also sweet and very attentive.”
“He’s not really her type, but she enjoyed the attention,” that source added.
